My name is Dobi, and I live for the thrill of the vintage hunt. My collection is a love letter to the 70s, 80s, 90s, and the Y2K era, featuring everything from statement bags and shoes to unique accessories and clothing, with a few special treasures reaching back to the 50s and 60s.
This passion began in my childhood. I grew up in Balchik, a small, beautiful town on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. My favorite memories are of weekends spent at my grandmother’s apartment. I was captivated by everything there—the retro green wallpaper, the solid wood furniture, the hidden treasures tucked away in her dressing table, and the "secret" world inside her closet. I spent hours pairing her 1950s dresses with kitten heels and a smudge of red lipstick, dreaming of becoming a movie star or a model just so I could dress in classic chic styles every day.
While I didn't head to Hollywood, my dreams evolved into something even better. My mom was the one who sparked the joy of thrifting in me. She would take me to the only thrift shop in my hometown at the time, and I fell in love with the unique discoveries I brought home. The best part was the compliments I received on my "new-to-me" fashion finds! When I moved to Varna as a student, I dove even deeper into the world of thrifting. It turned into a beautiful obsession; I spent years touring vintage shops and building a curated closet of gorgeous, one-of-a-kind pieces.
In my late 20s, I met my husband, Mihail. He saw how much happiness these vintage finds brought me and challenged me to turn my hobby into a business. That is how BlastFromThePastBags came to be. Today, we are raising our two daughters, Margarita and Elena. Being a busy mom and absolutely loving what I do, I decided to leave my 9-to-5 job to spend more time with my children and focus on my vintage shop. We work side-by-side as a family, and I couldn't be happier.
I am thrilled every time I find a unique item. I know I can bring new life to these pieces so someone else can appreciate them. Garments from the past were often made with exquisite attention to detail and built to last for decades. Every item I find is treated with the utmost care, so they arrive at your door ready to wear. Although I got a mannequin torso, so I can display my vintage finds, I still do my own modeling sometimes. In a way, that little girl’s dream of modeling beautiful clothes came true—just in a much more meaningful way.
